A refurbished Dell Latitiude E6420
2.50GHz i5 processor, 128GB SSD, 6GB DDR3 memory, 14inch HD screen. Should do what I need it to for school just fine. Will probably blow my ancient Dell Inspiron 17 out of the water.
Got it for $210 which seemed like a pretty good deal for an Authorized Refurbished computer.

I’m using one of those right now. I like it

I used to have a E6430 as my work computer, I beat the shit out of it, kept on working fine. Didn’t sit flat from that time it flew out of my backpack and on to a concrete floor.

Damn. Hopefully this is just as tough because I'm sure it'll end up sliding off a car onto the floor at some point because I'm so damn clumsy.

14" is a good size for a laptop. Let me know how battery life is, I might look into getting one.

that was my previous work-issued laptop. solid, but a brick. crappy screen. and you think those yahoos would spring for an SSD? lolz

Yeah my 17" right now is almost too big imo. They say 5-6 hours of use battery wise, but I'll have to see for myself.

Yeah, I had a 17" briefly and it was silly. 11.6" is the sweet spot for me. What resolution is the screen on it, and does it have integrated i5 graphics or a discreet chip?

Screen resolution is 1366x768 and it has an Intel HD 3000 graphics card.

E6420 and E6430 are the same chassis design.
(Source: I work for Dell, supporting a client with a bunch of bunch of E6430s and the occasional E6420 (most of those are gone by now, though).)

I had the 12" version, and it was a good machine. Screens aren’t very good though, quite dim and not that vibrant. These chassis designs always look like they should have a bigger screen than they come with. Trackpad isn’t brilliant, and the rubber coating on the keyboard wore quite quickly, but was easy and cheap to replace.
